Do you have solar panels on your roof? Must they be removed in order to re-shingle your roof?

We cannot have solar panels because our HOA only allows them if they cannot be seen from the street and the south side of our home can be seen. At least one of our neighbors has solar panels but we’ve been wondering what happens when the roof needs to be re-shingled since the installation cost is pretty steep.

No, I don't, it's too expensive. My little sis is thinking about it. Reply

We do not have solar panels. We've toyed with the idea, but nothing seriously. Reply

I don't have solar panels on my roof because I once calculated how long it would take for the electric savings to pay for them, and I came up with "when I'm about 103 years of age." Reply

No solar panels. We considered it from time to time, but the way our roof is situated, it would have been difficult and expensive. Reply

We checked on solar panels a couple of years ago and the cost was so expensive that we didn't think the savings would pay for them in our lifetime so we didn't get them. A neighbor got them but he installed them himself. I don't know how it works when you need to replace the roof. Reply

Yes, but awhile back went from two panels down to one. Makes it very easy for solar company to remove/replace if necessary. Haven't stopped paying for electricity, but it has certainly helped by heating our hot water! Reply

No I don't but it's something I would consider in the future if it were cost effective. Reply

I don’t have them. But when I considered them, I was advised to get a new roof 1st. Reply
