Did you know that refrigerating loaves of bread can cause the inside to dry out and become stale more quickly than bread stored at room temperature? Freezing bread is better than refrigerating it for longer-term storage.

I heard about this a long time ago so I freeze my bread rather than refrigerate it and take out a few slices at a time to unthaw. What do you do?

I have frozen my bread but I really do not like the taste once it has been frozen so I generally do not freeze it. Reply

I didn't know this and am glad you made this post. I will have to make room in the freezer next time as it takes me a long time to eat a loaf of bread and I just threw some away. What a waste. Reply

So do we! (Bread definitely takes up freezer space though.) Reply

Bread doesn't last long around here. We just keep it in the bread box. I do freeze English muffins though. Reply

I Don't Eat Much Bread, So Freezing Is A Must! Taking Out A Slice Or Two Always Ensures Fresh Bread! Reply

Freeze it then thaw it and eat it. It stays on the kitchen counter all week and it is fine until the last crumb is consumed. Reply

We don't either one of us eat bread so we don't keep any in the house. The only time we eat bread is occasionally I will make biscuits for a treat on special occasions. Reply
