Do you think handwriting should be taught in schools?
Closed

I know it was getting phased out in the states, but my 14yr old nephew got a Birthday card and had to get us to read it to him because it was written in cursive! I didn’t think they had already completely stopped teaching it! I think they should still teach it, depending on your career choice, you may have to look at older documents, signatures, original drafts etc. and I feel like it really limits kids. What do you think? Is there no point in continuing to teach cursive writing since screens are more popular.

Yes. It is a wonderful skill that combines thought, dexterity and art.

I read an article a while ago that showed someone reviewing documents from WW 1 and WW 2 and there were school aged children who couldn't read them because they were handwritten. This is becoming a lost art and I think it should be taught.
