Hugs in Dallas courtroom, extraordinary acts of mercy for Amber Guyger after her sentencing.
Closed

It was an emotional few days in Dallas during the Amber Guyger trial this week. Brandt Jean, the victim Botham Jean's 18 year old brother, took the witness stand, and spoke to the defendant ex-police officer, Guyger,, saying, "I know if you go to God and ask him, he will forgive you. I love you just like anyone else, and I'm not going to hope you rot and die." He told Guyger. "I personally want the best for you. I wasn't going to say this in front of my family, I don't even want you to go to jail. I want the best for you, because I know that's exactly what Botham would want for you. Give your life to Christ. I think giving your life to Christ is the best thing Botham would want for you."

Tears were flowing in the courtroom as Brandt Jean ask the judge, if he could give the defendent Amber Guyger a hug. The judge granted his request. It was an extraordinary act of mercy for Amber Guyger, after hearing her 10 year sentence for the murder of Botham Jean. They met in front of the judge's bench, and hugged for a long time as Brandt was talking to Amber. Later Judge Tammy Kemp spoke privately to Guyger, and also hugged her, and appeared to give her words of hope, as she handed her a Bible.

This was a touching moment and a heartfelt day in Dallas, as we have never seen this happen before in a courtroom. It helped to ease the tensions for all concerned, and for those of us, who were watching. God never ceases to amaze us, we are blessed to have his amazing grace.
