3 D-Printer Crackdown
Closed

This morning I caught bits of a robust debate on the radio regarding 3-D printers and guns. One the one side, the police want to regulate and control who can purchase these printers, while on the other hand, people are saying the police are over-reacting. There has been a spike in gun related crimes in Melbourne in recent months but I am not convinced 3-D printers can be blamed. If criminals want guns they will find a way to get them, or make do with some other weapon. Three-D printer technology has resulted in terrific advances in the many areas, most notably the medical industry e.g: custom made replacement joints. I would hate to front up at a police station, to explain to a police officer why I should have the right to purchase a particular printer; talk about Big Brother! The police officers would be far better use out fighting crime. Any thoughts?
